Executive Team Announcements at Luna Innovations

Blacksburg, VA — Scott Meller has been named Chief Operating Officer of Luna Innovations Incorporated. Formerly the Vice President of Research & Development, Meller has also served as Senior Research Scientist and Director of the Physical Sensors Group, as well as Director of Engineering of the company's first spin-off, Luna Technologies. He holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University.

Dr. Joseph Heyman has been named New Technology Director for the company. In conjunction with his current role as Chief Scientist, Dr. Heyman will be evaluating and coordinating new technology opportunities for the company from the Luna Hampton Roads location. A renowned leader in nondestructive evaluation sciences, with special expertise in ultrasonics and nonlinear acoustics, Dr. Heyman became part of the Luna team when the company acquired Nascent Technologies in 2003. He is the former Chief Technologist at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA, where he co-founded and directed NASA's Technology Commercialization Program Office.

Lori Engebritson has been promoted to Vice President Human Resources. Engebritson, who has been with Luna since 2000 as Director of Human Resources, is focusing on employee career development and is currently working to staff Luna's Nanomaterials Division in Danville which begins production this August. Luna has grown to over 200 people in its six locations in Virginia and Maryland.
